Statement and Bio

Statement: I make 2 and 3-dimensional works surrounding ideas of physical and emotional structural integrity. I aim to create pieces in a space that hold the complex weight of the fragile human experience. I take inspiration from children’s toys, such as the Barrel of Monkeys and Lincoln Logs, but play with scale, materiality and installation. I use these recognizable objects to allow the viewer to relate to the work and the memories that they evoke, not just as art objects, but as representations of lived emotions.

Bio: Claire Barone a two- and three-dimensional artist, with foci in wood-based sculpture, beadwork, and collage. By creating a child-like space she allows for once repressed emotions, to shed light on the past within the safety of the present. Barone has received a B.A. from Saint Michaels College in 2026, with Degrees in Art and Design, and Environmental Studies. She has had work displayed in McCarthy Art Gallery in the spring of 2026.
